 Our Mission Statement
Encourage and support older citizens  in  maintaining
independence over their retirement years with dignity and respect.

The Shirley J. Luck Senior Citizens Center is a multiple service center specifically designed to meet the needs of mature adults. This smoke free city building is financially supported through the generosity of the City of Johnstown with the additional support coming through membership in the club and fundraising events sponsored by center staff. The Center is home to the 50+ Club and oversight for club activity is provided by the Board of Directors. Additional financial support for building maintenance and programs is provided through the generosity of the 50+ Club fund raising.

Services and programs offered by the center include: sheltered day and extended travel, health screenings, and a county sponsored meal site which serves a hot noon time meal every weekday. The center offers a wide variety of classes ranging from; educational, health-related, or social. The center does offer some weekend events and times available for a safe and quiet space for seniors. A sheltered setting for frailer adults through the Adult Day Program is also available. Family members or care givers are welcome to visit the program or make referrals for someone who may need a more structured setting.

Staff at the center consist of the Central Executive Director, secretary, two program coordinators, several program aides, and a custodian. As guest are always welcome, any center staff member would be happy. to provide a center tour and further outline upcoming programs. The Senior Center staff are ready to assist any member or guest and we strongly encourage utilizing the programs and services available at this center. Now is the time to enjoy your earned leisure time, to keep you health and social life active, to try a new hobby, and to share your time and talents with others.

50+ CLUB
The 50+ Club is housed in the Senior Center. Club activities are held on Thursdays.

1st Thursday- Officers meeting at 12p, Business meeting at 1:15p. These meetings sets up activities for the month and
                     all center activities are discussed.

2nd & 3rd Thursday- Include recreational, social and educational activities and are always open to guests.

4th Thursday- Covered dish dinner night; served at 5p. Soup & sandwiches are served at 1:15p. All are welcome.

WEEKENDS
The Senior Center is open three weekends a month.

2nd Sunday- Singles meet at 1p. There are a wide variety of activities available within this group. Single folks looking
                  for something to do on Sunday afternoon should check this group out.

3rd Sunday- Dinner Club group travels around the area to restaurants for dinner and return to the center for cards or
                   bingo.

4th Sunday- Special Sunday is a "free" day. The center is open from 1-4p. Special treats are available as seasonal
                   specials. The afternoon offers cards and bingo, TV or visiting with friends; old and new.

JOHNSTOWN MEAL SITE
Fulton County Office of the Aging offers a meal site at the Center. Each weekday the meal site is open at 10am and a delicious hot meal is served at 12pm. Reservations are necessary, one day in advance, and may be placed by calling 736-5650.

CLASSES
All classes are open to anyone; whether refining a talent or pursuing an interest.
